What Is Sustainability at UF?

Sustainability at UF can be traced to "a grassroots movement of students, faculty and staff from a variety of academic and administrative units." This movement gained momentum when in 1990 President John Lombardi signed the Tallories Declaration, promising to make environmental education and research a central goal in this institution.
The purpose of the movement was to increase environmental literacy on campus, examine current practices to reduce environmental impact and to create a culture of environmental stewardship."

Be sure and visit the UF Office of Sustainability site for more information.

ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS

UF Purchasing Services is proud to have been a First Place winner in the campus-wide Second Annual Carbon Diet Contest held in 2003. This diet was designed to protect the environment, save money, and enhance the quality of the campus and community. We would like to continue to encourage everyone to reduce, reuse, and recycle as a part of your everyday lives.

WE CAN ALL WORK TOWARD A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE FOR US AND THE GENERATIONS TO COME
